Here's a nice tune in the Key of D. Fiddle is standard GDAE.

The full title of the tune is I Do Like Liquor & I Will Take A Dram. It was collected from Jesse James Abbott, who lived near Toledo, IL on 11/30/1976. It is No. 107 in Dear Old Illinois by Garry Harrison & Jo Burgess.
Mr. Abbott lived from 1893-1978. He said that he was born in a covered wagon in MO. His family moved to IL at some point. He lived on a small farm outside of Toledo, IL He played quite a few unusual tunes for us including this one. His brother, Ethel "Red" Abbott, also played fiddle and lived near Mattoon, IL

WOW.....A very obscure tune in all respects Chirps. Thet's sho'nuf a good'n tho. This is tha closest I cud find of anything bout it. He mentions you in tha blog bout southern Ill. fiddle searchers. Everything else ....( out of print, closed out, no longer available ).

I seem to recall that he said he was born around Lebanon (or Old Lebanon), MO. That's the county seat of LaClede County. It's along I-44 between St. Louis & Springfield.
However, I could have misremembered that little factoid too.
I did some searching on the Net and found some genealogic records.
Jesse James Abbott was the 6th child of Jame Abbott (~1836-1909) and his 2nd wife, Martha Ann Kelly (1855-1924). Ethel "Red" Abbott was the 8th & final child of this couple. According to this source J.J. Abbott was born 9/16/1891 (his gravestone says 1893). Ethel was born 11/20/1895.

Per the stone he died 12/22/1978. So far I haven't found anything about being born in MO. The family seems to be located mainly in Moultrie County in IL. However, his grandson, Jeremy, mentioned on a geanealogic forum that his branch of the Abbott family came from MO.
Probably more than you wanted to know.
