You guys must be Irish! I just listened to the flings. The flute & fiddle are right together, the ornaments are smooth, the guitar sounds like he's right on the button & it sounds like Irish-style guitar accompaniment to me.

It's Great to have some good Irish music on this forum!

We're not Irish but we all really like the music and we've all been to Ireland to play it.

When you went to Ireland to play the music, how did you fit in ? Was the playing skill of Irish fiddlers that much better than that of good American fiddlers who play Irish music ? One Irish fiddler warned his fellow fiddlers to avoid sitting on the laurels. He said that were a lot of very good fiddlers playing Irish music in the U.S.., especially the northwest.

I really like fiddle music better when there are just just a few musicians. In that environment, I can easily hear each instrument perform.

I better watch my writing. You may be an English professor at SIU.

I was welcomed in the sessions. I felt like for the most part I could play as competently as anyone on the tunes that I knew. As far as skill level, I would say that the spectrum of skills on display was about what you'd expect. There are definitely more good players of Irish fiddle in Ireland but there are plenty of good players who aren't from there.

The players that I met seemed genuinely happy that players from other countries love and play this music.
