Let's try again - my earlier attempt timed out.

Purple Lilies Polka - a Tohono O'odham fiddle tune from the indigenous southern Arizona nation.

The Gu-achi Fiddlers are probably the group to thank for the tune - although I can't find a recording by them of this tune. There is a CD with much more of their playing at eMusic.com.

I've put my very poor attempt at it below (sorry, Chuck, no video, so you can concentrate on the music, not my looks ). (edit: mp3 removed, the totmc copy still exists)

I first heard this tune at one of our Tucson Old Time Music CIrcles, and it has become a fairly permanent fixture there. Here's a link to the latest version by the TOTMC players:

I know there are one or two members here who can probably provide more information than I have on this simple but pretty D tune.

For some reason I am unable to hear the MP3, but can open the PDF. Thanks for sharing. I listened to it on the You Tube link wormblower posted. What a cute tune! Kind of like a pass around the punch tune. La la la la la la la! Thanks for this link.

We play one polka at our jam, and always have fun with it (Metzer Polka from Jehile Kirkhuff) so I think we might have to add this one to our playlist . . . La La La Laaaa Laaaa!

Doesn't work for me either. When I right click it it appears to be an image file, and with "Copy Link Location" its only "javascript:;"
