There's some Irish music on my page. I hope nobody minds that one of them is a guitar tune.

Mickey,

I downloaded 'Banish Misfortune' and 'Cup of Tea'
last night- good stuff!
Who's the guitarist and flute player on those?
They're no slouches either.

<I> personally don't mind an occasional guitar tune
if it's clearly labeled, and if it's actually a fiddle tune
and therefore of interest to fiddlers.

Be sure to contribute to the two Irish threads-
"Anyone seriously interested in Irish fiddling?"
and "Your favorite Irish fiddler is?"...
until we get style sections, clearly labelled Irish threads
are the only way to pull together the Irish players
on the Hangout.

I just listened to "Sligo Maid"
you've got (or had) some serious guitar chops!
Very nice!

Bryan Crow plays flute and Mike Shanahan plays rhythm guitar on all of the tracks. I still keep up my guitar playing. It is all so much fun, I need more hours in the day.

So are you guys a regular Irish band?
(you sound tight enough to be one...)
Got a name? Got gigs?

Glad to hear it- it'd be a shame to waste all those guitar
chops!

Yeah. I have played with these guys since before I played the fiddle. We call the band the Dorians and we do some gigs, travel when we can but we all have day jobs, families, etc. We try to do festivals and arts council type things as well as the occasional bar gig if we get really bored.

Is your fiddle tuned normally on your recording of Banish Misfortune? It sounds almost like it is tuned down.
Nice job.

The fiddle is tuned normally but I'm playing in G and I think that most folks do it in D.
