If anyone is interested in trying these flat wound steel on steel strings let me know and I'll send you a set. I had them on a fiddle for about 5 minutes! No kidding! They performed so poorly for me that I was afraid that I might have screwed up my fiddle!
Anyways, if you'd like to try a set let me know and you can have them.

Are they as good as the Black Diamond Round Wound strings you can buy 5 bucks a set?
captainhook - Posted - 12/22/2009: 14:48:02
MUCH better than Black Diamond. I've used just one set but my only complaint was that they seemed to stretch forever. I found nothing wrong with the sound or feel. Don't remember where they ended up, maybe on a fiddle I sold.
What specifically didn't you like about them and how do you think they could have screwed up the fiddle?
hanknc - Posted - 12/22/2009: 16:12:52
I didn't like anything about them. They didn't screw up the fiddle.
I thought that maybe someone here would want a free set of strings. Apparently I am not the only fiddler that found them unusable since no one has yet said "yes, I'll take a FREE SET OF STRINGS".
Do you want them?

Now hold on there, Hank. This is the Fiddle Hangout. First we have to discuss WHY you didn't like them, tone and set up of your fiddle, etc.
THEN, we have to talk about the tone, set up of our own instruments.
THEN we have to talk about WHY someone might want these particular strings, and HOW they might impact on a particular player's style.
Given that a thread can be good for a few days to a month's discussion (depending on how much we can debate the above details), I'd say you might get an answer to who might want your strings in about 1 month, max. ![]()
By the way, we need to discuss shipping. ![]()

Thankyou, Hank. This is very generous of you, but I'm using sythetic strings right now, and probably will continue to do so in the near future. Someone who is investigating different brands of steel strings for their fiddle should take you up on this. I'm surprised that noone has, yet.

Gone!!! Thanks for playing!
[Since the subject has been taken care of, I'm locking the thread. Brad]
