Just a reminder - Mike Diaz, aka fiddlerfaddler here has a couple of exquisite, very readable, lots of pictures - articles that he writes for his bluegrass mag -
It would be time well spent if you want to see history and the myths of history! (LOL!) as regards the string families, and where it all came from...
(should you be curious, or need a 'fresher course!)
