IntelliScore Ensemble isn't free, though it purports to do this, but I never could get it to work correctly. Might just be me. I dont know of any other program which will do it, or even claims to.

Music is found in the space between the notes -- in the silence between the chords. Get your spaces right, and you''ve got it. ~ Albert Greenfield

That's a pretty tall order. I doubt there's anything (especially for free) that will do this with any quality or accuracy.
I've been wrong before, though. ummm, last time was back in '02 I think ![]()

I posted this over on Playing Advice a few minutes ago so will repost it here---
A few months back I got into converting media files for use in my grandkids Ipod knockoffs, You Tube and DVD and such.. Interesting and painful. Some success and some not so successful. Learning experience.
They are just files and the converting of files to another format and you can drag and drop from one menu to the other. Others have gone through the experience and you can do a search for Forums on almost any question with folks who have solved some of the problems or worked on the problems and questions.
If you do a Google search for free media converter, or free mp3 to midi converter or free whichever way you want to go you should find several choices. The cnet site software sometimes works and others are worth trying. Some may work for you and some not so good and some faster and some slow.
Good Luck

They are completely different types of files. Mp3 and wav files are music files. MIDIs are programs that instruct a computer to generate music.
In order to convert mp3 to MIDI, you'd first have to have automatic transcription capability, and that's just not available yet, AFAIK.

After looking over what is out there, I tend to go along with Woodwiz but you might want to try on a simple single instrument simple melody experiment. They are not all free and only one or two may even have some capability. Some of the download and converter menus also tend to be confusing at first or forever based on my Ipod experience.
Off Yahoo, this is pretty much what woodwiz says - Just to be clear, it can be done, but pretty much every software program can only read single notes and turn them into MIDI. If you are trying to convert an Mp3 with multiple instruments playing, you will not be able to change it to MIDI. I know FL Studio has this ability, but it is not free and is limited by the single note issue that I mentioned. Try a google search for free converters, but again, keep in mind that it will only work with single notes, so the Mp3 you have must be single note hits.
-Google Search free mp3 to midi converter-
Lots of MIDI to MP3 but not much the other way...
http://www.download3k.com/MP3-Audio...nverter.html This one claims the capability www.avs4you.com I did not do well with this program on my Ipod journey but maybe it was me.

http://www.shareware-box.com/softwa...d_65082.html This shareware gets into the issues Woodwiz mentions. tain't easy.
A comment I ran across: IntelliScore Polyphonic WAV to MIDI you can use to convert mp3 to midi. But the demo only lets you convert the first 15 seconds. Intelloiscore claimed the capability but $75 I think.
