I was searching YouTube for the Plank Road String Band LP I recorded so I could listen to "Cherry River Rag" since someone here said they were playing it and this short popped up:

I noticed that the inlays on her no doubt modern banjo are like the ones in my 1908 Vega Whyte Laydie, and that sort of warmed my heart. Then YouTube helpfully suggested this (warning: there's a slightly unladylike word at the beginning):

She has an interesting biography, and has met some people along the way (the lead guitar on "You're Not Special" is "Cousin" Kenny Vaughn of Marty Stuart's Fabulous Superlatives).
Lots of her stuff on YouTube.
I liked the Old Plank Road recording! That's an inspiration to me to try to get back my clawhammer chops someday.
Regarding Cherry River Rag, thanks for the reminder about the Plank Road album. You had posted that some time ago, which is one reason I wanted to work on the tune. I have the Ed Haley version sounding respectable, though not at full speed.
That Plank Road version has some differences from the Ed Haley version that I think make it easier to play. Plus it's just a great version, so I think I'll work some on it.
Ernie - I'm glad that someone at least checked out one of the links. Here's a longer version with Hillary Klug playing fiddle and dancing. They're on a dock or platform on the river, and at one point the wake of a passing boat comes along, and its funny as they wonder if they should keep going or abandon ship. youtube.com/shorts/UwzZFL_TQFw...XrcDxarDI
There's another video of them doing "Rockingham Cindy" where it starts to rain at the end and Hillary takes time to give the funding/promo information while Cristina sprints for cover!
My favorite instrumental on tha Plank Road album is "Beaumont Rag." Its one of those recordings where everything just came together. I still think that's an interesting and enjoyable album - it was fun to make.
