Today marks 20 years since hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. To commemorate, here's a song about an earlier flood, written and recorded by "Barbecue Bob" in 1927, which I recorded by Doc and Merle Watson and T. Michael Coleman in December, 1984. It was the custom for Doc to perform at the Down Home every year around Christmas. Merle died the following October, so this was the last year they played the show together.
I'm also attaching an after hours photo of staff and friends at the club. There are Christmas cards hung up, and Doc played that Saturday. Not sure if it was the same year.
