I found some sheet music of a certain version of Bonaparte's Retreat. You can hear me trying to play the tune from sheet music in the mp3 file, at a slow speed. I would like to know which artists are / were playing Bonaparte's Retreat like this or at least very similar to this.
Many thanks in advance.
Scotty road : I believe on your YouTube channel you play yet another but still pretty similar version and it sounds and looks like it' s spot on. You really nail it there on a level of bowing technique if you ask me. I was going to write a comment but that was not possible for this particular video.
I would really like to know which version you based your playing upon!

I thought the same as Fiddleplay - Benny Thomasson: slippery-hill.com/content/bona...etreat-36
I have to say that most versions of that tune sound pretty similar to me, and I don't know exactly what features you're looking for, Quincy. Do you have a link to the sheet music you found?
Benny's would ba good version to learn anyway though.
PS - Ivan, you did upload the tune to your homepage here, but you have to attach it to your post for it to appear in the thread.

Yay , the Benny Thomasson version is what I was looking for I think. If I compare with the sheet music I got, it is pretty similar, but he plays some parts on the highest strings where in the sheet music it seems written an octave lower. I would need to convert the png file to jpeg format to show. I'll see if I can do this later on.
