A fiddle friend today told me this little story about Stephan Dahl, luthier..(RIP in the 80's)..It was Stephan who made my main fiddle playable.....the one I bought when I was 18 and still play (I'm 79)
Anyway, his little repair shop was always a clutter of activity..Today I was jamming with my friend and while looking down at the carpet ( I know I'm the only one who does that)..I saw a tiny, tiny block of wood and I surmised that is was a bow tip block that come out of someone's bow.. I was wrong, it was just something that came into the house on dog hair.....Then, my fiddle friend told me this.. Stephen's works space was so chaotic that he would regularly drop those tiny pieces of bow wedges and couldn't find them...Time went by.. One day he happened to check the filter on his clothes dryer and there.. was a clutter of the wedges he had dropped over the Years... I thought that was interesting and I hope you did too...
