17th century English baroque xmas tune, playford dance master collection
youtu.be/vX1LiVe7FlA?si=SgzyFTjfcW8M1TF-
This tune would have been played by minstrels in Baronial halls all across the country as well as in taverns in the depths of winter when the snow was 3 feet deep outside, and the only warmth was to be found inside the confines of the village inn. There are words which go with this tune, which would be sung along with the performing musicians.
