So who was this Wagner character that really seems to have gotten around? So many states seem to have their own versions of the tune. Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Georgia...I'm probably missing a half dozen. I learned "Arizona" from a husband/wife fiddling duo Milt and Tincy (rhymes with tiny) Hooker of San Simon, AZ They played in and judged fiddle contests in the Southwest U.S. Their day job was performing fencing contract work for the U.S. Forest Service. They had just arrived home from a job when I stopped in for a visit.
Bruce , that instrument you got sounds very attractive. Bright on the high notes but it sure gives a warm feeling when playing the lower strings. In Snake Chapmans Tune you show very well what this instrument has in it I think... I especially like that dissonance you mention ... I like it a lot!
