Hi all!
Big fan of Benny Martin here. I'd be really curious to know if anyone has detailed information on his gear and setup:
What fiddle did he mainly play? I'm not talking about his 8-string creation, but the standard fiddle he played with Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs etc... what make and age was it? I know one of his fiddles is in the Bluegrass Music Hall Of Fame in Owensboro. Was this his main instrument?
Also, do we know what his preference of strings was?
Thanks!
Matt.
Have you tried contacting the Hall of Fame? If they have his fiddle they may know something about it, or can point you towards someone who does. They can probably tell you what kind of strings are on it too, or maybe send you a photo, so you can figure it out yourself.
