Oh, sorry to hear it. Thanks for sharing the info, Fred. I never knew of Bobby Hicks, but when I stumbled across John Cockman's youtube of Maiden's Prayer, was moved to join his site and learned it was Bobby Hick's style he was playing...I was in awe of that beautiful fiddling. No other like him. A big loss for his friends and family, I'm sure, and a big loss for the musical world.

I performed 7 sets and 8 practices with Bobby when he spent the weekend in Osceola, NY at the NYS Old Time Fiddlers Museum quite a number of years ago. I was asked to play standup bass for the weekend and told there was already one there on the grounds belonging to the museum. There was one problem I had to overcome: the string travel to the fingerboard was so far that playing in A (three sharps) was enharmonically as though I was playing in B flat (one flat) Bobby played in a wide range of keys which kept me on my toes all weekend. lol
great to hear from you Peggy.

Great to hear from you too, Fred. Hope you are doing well and doing a lot of music. I miss the old message board where we used to visit, and all those folks over there at BGrass Daddy.
I think it was the year 2007. Bobby was inducted into the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame. I had the honor of being in the band selected to perform that weekend as he was an inductee.
I saw a post where you mentioned you were thinking of selling a Gibson V-125?
Do you still have it? I've been looking at a V-27, but I know very little about these violins and yours is the first 125 I've seen, although I've heard there were a couple of 100s produced. Write me back at: neal@whiskeyalibi.com or call at 704-641-1204. I'm supposed to go look at the 27 tomorrow.... Thanks!

Hi Whiskey Alibi. I sold that Gibson V25 4/4 violin quite a while back and recently I noticed it was being sold here on the marketplace forum
not sure whether it has sold. It is on the marketplace currently. Have a great day. Fred
