Hi - does anyone know if Fred Carpenter is still playing ? The last I heard he had a violin shop in Nashville . I have searched but can't find any up to date news .
Fred Carpenter owns The Violin Shop in Nashville. Been around a good while.
I've met and spoke with Fred on a few occassions. We have mutual friends, but I can't say that we are "friends". I haven't been there in a few years so I'm not sure just how active he is with the shop these days, but he is still shown as part of the "staff".

He haired a violin bow for me a few months ago. Apparently he is working on instruments without running the business. So he is enjoying the fun part of “it”. Still the same friendly fellow he has always been in my experience.
Brandon Godman took over as owner, but Fred is still listed as the founder. His bio says he still plays, especially since handing over the keys to the business.
