The grips or clamps do not quite stand up to the frequency of removing and re- clamping. Also my vision impairment requires superior brightness.
Love to know if there are re-chargeable turners as well.

Have you tried the D'ddario NS micro tuner? I think you can leave it on the instrument all the time, but it might not be big enough for you to see easily.
I was just looking for something else on their website, and yes, they now make a rechargeable tuner - the Eclipse. It may use the old mount though, so it may not help you.

PS - I got curious about rechargeable tuners, and it turns out both Boss and Snark offer rechargeable models, as do other brands. Boss advertises a "high contrast" display, which may help you.

If you rmember to shut it off, a battery tuner should last just as long as a reharge one, I dont see the need for that. My Peterson strobe tuner lasts months on a battery, and is plently bright enough even on sunny days. Grips seem about average and the unit is too big to leave on all the time. But this thing is dead nuts accurate, which is the prime reason for a tuner , ain't it?

I second the Peterson. I just clamp it on when tuning then take it off while playing. It doesn’t really bother me to do that and I also have only had to change the battery once in the past year.

Just don't drop the Peterson. My banjo buddy Paul broke two, one after many years of service and the second one days after replacing the first one. Oops.

BTW, the Peterson strobe tuner is also available in a rechargeable model: musiciansfriend.com/accessorie...-on-tuner
The point is not how long a battery lasts, but that when it dies you have to throw it away and buy a new one, whereas with the rechargeable you just recharge it.
Also, msfiddlestix doesn't mind installing and removing her tuner. She's just looking for one with a stronger clip.

If worried about throwing a battery away, don’t buy another tuner. Use a strobe tuner app on your rechargeable phone with adjustable brightness. Then you really don’t have to worry about clips.
