I am looking at a board with the first part of the lyrics here. I am planning to eventually play exactly how the lyrics go. It takes me some effort. Each day a new part.
The audio file is tuned down a couple of steps.

Thanks, I really enjoyed your version and looked it back up and now I am able to play along with that video for the whole tune. It makes it easier because you also sing!

I call it "Blue Eyed Boston Boy" and it is one of my favorites. Sounds like you like it too!
I don't think it's related to the Two Sisters song (Wind and Rain) though I can see where one might hear some snippets.
Here's where I learned it and continues to be my favorite version:

Cardinals -Blue Eyes Boston Boy
Thanks , I am learning the lyrics with this version which comes close to my preferences: https://youtu.be/kFBPwDjw9hc?feature=shared
I need to work on But if you ride back and I am left you'll do as much for me... If I manage to sing this one right I am very close! I simply adore this tune.
I too first heard it as a Bluegass song, as "Blue Eyed Boston Boy," and probably by the Cardinals. It wa quite popular for awhile.
If you want some history for this song: bob-dylan.org.uk/archives/26861 Looks like there's more to the lyric than what's usually sung.
I think maybe bluegrass is not for me. At first my idea was more: wth bluegrass fiddlers are so skilled I'll save this bluegrass stuff for later on when I am more advanced. But now I see it a bit different. I do like some of the typical bluegrass fiddle breaks but each time I hear a tune's version in bluegrass and I compare it with an old timey version I clearly have a strong preference for the old time version.
This particular tune Two Soldiers is more than amazing... the sound of it together with the lyrcis... Bomb!!!
I have by the way similar ideas on GDAE fiddlers as potentially more skilled players... In my mind lives an own crazy assumption that old time GDAE fiddlers have the capacity of becoming excellent classical violinists too. Cross tuning is more likely to make you sound old timey but those who solely play GDAE and manage to sound 100% OT must have a lot more technique at least that is what I suspect.
So happy I am with this tune which does sound like the real stuff AND that in GDAE well ok D#A#FC for me hehe.
I understand Anja, you don't want your video on page 1 of FHO? Well, I think it's perfect for page 1 or anywhere else!
But in the future, if you don't want a video on page 1, I simply create a new thread in the Sound Off section, and paste a link in the post. I don't go through the media upload page. I recon the latest video uploaded get put on page 1. But a YouTube link is just a link.

Omg thanks haha, a while ago I thought I found the solution by deselecting that one field when you upload a video...now I am not so sure about that though. I always uploaded my YouTube videos on FHO - thought that was the way to go. Thanks for your kind comment. From now on links it will be!
