For the past several months I've been messing around learning claw hammer banjo. Naturally there were lots of obvious stuff to get used to like comparative size and weight differences and of course frets , but in the process of doing this I have come to a conclusion playing a banjo along with the fiddle has some real benefits for a fiddler. Not going into all this now, but thought I'd post an attempt at Gum Tree Canoe. I used Strum Machine for the guitar/bass backup and made the recording using Audacity and a Presonus sound card.

wow! I think you've come a long way. that just sounds like pure fun. good job adapting that clawhammer thumping to a 3/4 tune and just doing a fine job playing through it with the notes too. sounds so good I gotta say it's just really "rich!" Great job.

Hey Peggy - Thanks. I wouldn't have been able to make any progress fooling with a strange fretted instrument without your help and those great YT instruction vids.

Rich, I'm so happy I could help out a little bit...I love to see someone having great times on the ol' banjo...lol. You worked hard and now we can see the results.  Hopin' you'll add a fiddle track one of these days and share that one too.
