This is an advanced tune because of string crossing, the need to count, and managing that D chord in the A part (see below). When playing over the D chord, you should aim to keep your 3rd finger anchored to the A-string and your 1st finger anchored to the E string. While doing that, you will alternately slap your 2nd finger to the E string, and lift it, creating alternate hammer-ons and pull-offs. I think you can see it pretty clearly in the video. Cleo Persinger was from Boone, Co., MO. I think his dates are 1909-1971. He won Weiser (ID) in 1964.
