Maxwell Brown gets his first win at Berks (Lyons) Fiddle Festival in the youngest age category. The following year he took home the title of Grand Champion through all age categories.

Check out my past posts or my YouTube channel for that performance.

It appears there may be a couple Maxwell Browns. I saw one at Galax this year who was fantastic. Although he didn’t win (those who don’t live in the area typically don’t) he was the clear favorite among the crowd.

In addition to being a competition fiddler, the one I’ve seen is also an excellent classical player (he’s won numerous accolades and has played major repertoire with some major groups and has studied with many excellent teachers). It’s exciting to see young players who have the ability to excel in multiple disciplines.

Clarification: they are the same child. Apparently the OP’s video is a past performance but just uploaded recently. It threw me off. I had thought it was the same person initially, which was why I checked when the video was posted.

There were some memorable performances at Galax last summer, but his was by far the most impressive.

Good teaching makes all the difference!
