Saw this online, looks pretty. Since its Copie De, i assume this is made in France. I think from my research, its made after 1957 when companies start to put "copy of". The symbol is JTL

your thoughts please?

All one could say from these pics is

  • Its violin shaped
  • Has 4 strings
  • Made of wood
  • comes with 2 bows and a case
  • Has a label in it

Close up pics of the scroll,  C-bouts with corners and purfling,  wood grain structure of front and back, and as many other pics you can get, will allow a much better idea of the worth and source of this fiddle.  Put very little faith in labels, one of the most faked things in the music world.

It’s hard to discern much from these photos. If you can get some at better resolution showing the top, back, and scroll, it will make it a bit easier.

The label suggests JTL, but, as already mentioned by wrench13, labels are no guarantee. There are real JTL violins but there are also a lot of German violins that have had phony labels put in. It’s the details of the working style that determine the origin.
