Last night I was working up a better version of Old Horse and Buggy and my fiddle just sounded different so I busted out my other one and wow, that action his HIGH!!! But it's louder. I veered off course and came up with my own little ditty. Sounds nothing like Horse and Buggy. The cool thing was, I recorded it on both fiddles and clearly my newer one had sky rocketing WAV signals as my other one had very light WAV peaks in my DAW. That thing needs set up for sure and I do know it has PRIMS on it at this time. That has me excited but the moral of this post was, I came up with a little tune that has an AA/BB part. Pretty darn simple but just came to me from messing around. Most importantly, I like it. Now, I need to get it clean enough to post so you all can decide!! I think I'm in the clear but knowing you all with your vast knowledge of this artform, maybe it's already been done.
Have you created something only to find out that it's already been done?
I have an engineer/inventor background. If it's not "novel" or only one or two notes different, I say no. If it's simply a different color (key), I say no.
But I can come up with new Waltzes all day. Hook, hook, turn around, hook, in three quarter time. Like carving a canoe. Cut away everything that is not a canoe.
The other day I was playing a tune and thought... o i should do something with this, it's nice. But then it hit me that I was playing off of Sally Coming Through the Rye.
I have this weird thing where I'll write a tune that has little to do with the traditional fiddle music I play. There's about a dozen of them. Here's one that got recorded...

I look forward to hearing your tune!
