Just came across this. Thanks to the Kerr violin shop, the violin and bows were recovered from the thieves.
Haas got lucky because the person who bought her cello on the street for $40 had a change of heart and called the phone number on the case.
Thankfully all the instruments and bows seem to have come through it unharmed.
Wow quite a story!
Happy that they got their instruments back!
Oh that's the worse feeling and I'm super happy everything is safe. I had a similar experience, in short.
We had a band and a storage shed in our home town that we rehearsed in, some members left their gear there between shows. I show up and we were robbed. Lost a Fender Reverb Amp, a 76 US Strat...All of our lights, all of our mics and speakers. This was pre internet so I had to hit the streets like a detective because the cops were like "sorry" And after all of my interviews, I searched the local pawn shops and located the gear, notified our cops and they retrieved it all for us. The thing that wasn't recovered was my mic case with 7 shure mics. The perpetrators were arrested and restitution was issued to me. The worst part was informing the members that all their gear was stolen and the best part was telling them we got it all back. I used developed photos from our shows to identify the gear. Thieves stink!
i wonder if it was the David Gusset violin. i think he played it on "The Driven Bow" with Jody Stecher?....That would be my dream fiddle!!!
