No fiddling, but give it a listen. I worked real DANG hard on this thing. I've been offline for a while and I'm back...like it or not. Oh, and Merry Christmas to all my FHO pals...let's have one wild fiddlin' new year! Hope all are well.

That is real nice! This morning I went up the hill and cut us a nice xmas tree for the house. Then I looked on the hangout and listened to your post. Merry Christmas! (A little early for me this year but my soul needs some cheer!)

Very dark sounding. It reminds me of some of those stuff European pagan-folk bands do. What is the language/interpretation?

I think it's Spanish...but apparently Castilian, which is never taught in any high schools around here (yes I had high school spanish but it sure didn't help with this), plus it's probably Medieval Castilian or something...and I can't even speak Medieval English...lol...let alone this, whatever it is. I'm sure anyone familiar with this would find it totally off. But I had fun doing it. I do love the Medieval and Renaissance sounds...my daughter got into that when she was in kindergarden and it's grown on me for all these years. Although I never listen...we heard a bunch of it back when she was 5 years old though.

Neat tune. I hadn't heard it. Found a video of the Monkees singing it!

That's so weird that you say that...I usually just watch a few youtubes to chill out before going to bed, and the other night, I guess because I put this one up on youtube myself, I saw the Monkees doing that...lol. I gotta say I was amazed...I mean, they did a really great job on this, and, well...I guess I woulda never thought of them doing it. I was really amazed. I never thought I would actually LIKE something by the Monkees...lol.

This was something always done in Whitley Co., KY back in the old days. There was always a Madrigal Dinner and celebration put on by the college every year several times before Christmas. We never had the money to attend, but since for several years I was the janitor in the music building, I got to go and could take hubby and daughter with me. Boy was that a fun thing...but it started every year with a choir in Medieval clothing marching in with drummers and juggling court jesters and such and singing this...walking through the tables while the King sat at the end of the court and ordered everything that happened. They had dyed bread of some kind...can't remember why, and they marched in with the pig on a platter with an apple in its mouth (roasted, not live)...figgy pudding for the end while everybody sang We Wish You a Merry Christmas together...I also got to help make giant wreathes and candles and stuff for it and they let me play wooden recorder for a lot of the music...it was really a fun way to start off the Christmas season. Seems everytime we left a Madrigal Dinner it was flurrying as we left to walk back home. Really made Christmas special...daughter was kindergarden age and really got into Medieval/Renaissance music because of that and I've wanted to try to do Riu Riu Chiu since I got a Presonus to try it with...lol...finally got a chance. Maybe I can do it better some time in the future. But our little family and our old friends now scattered around all over the place have great memories of those times, the nice folks there, the place, topping a scrub pine and making popcorn to string it up with...those were nice Christmases for us.
