Ended up bringing home the fiddle I was borrowing from my teacher. FHO, meet "Chuck" my new fiddle.
It's a 2005 Chimney Violin, #24 made by Nelson Steffy in Boiling Springs PA. About an hour from where I live.
I bought it knowing that it needs a set up but wow, I am loving the new ride as well as the Bobelock Halfmoon case I got as an early birthday gift from Southwest Strings. Now to practice practice practice!
Well, That's exciting...
i see that nice little scoop out at the bottom of the f holes, which says to me that the maker has taken some time and pride in their work.
Good luck with it :o)
Ahhh... most excellent.
I pick up the first fiddle I bought (2009) next weekend - after some tweaking and new stuff being added from Scott and Shea Poole (Mt View Music). Looking forward to playing it again.
It's gorgeous! Now it's time to saw away like a nutcase...
So nice that your new fiddle was made an hour from where you live.
Good luck with your new fiddle!
Sweet case, too!
