I finally found a fiddler who does not require visa or paypal - which pretty much solves all of my problems with taking online private classes. An American OT fiddler from the UK as far as I understand, I wanted to get started with this person after I saw him bring a beautiful version of an OT tune I really want to learn.
I am pretty much convinced he will be an excellent teacher.
Maybe it is not a bad idea to choose like this: by coincidence, based on the version of a tune I would like to learn. Because this was the first thing that went through my mind :wow, this version I like - I want to learn this!
First classes are scheduled next week when I am having a week off from work.

Cool!
What OT tune is it…just curious?
I think if you like your teacher’s playing, that’s always a good sign!
( I started to research online Irish fiddle lessons, maybe group lessons…but work has been busy…and lessons means I would have to Practice systematically! so I have been putting it off a bit :-)

That's great news! "Look out world cuz here comes Quincy!!"
I have been taking lessons for a year now, almost every Wednesday night and now, 1 Thursday a month with a different teacher. I can say 2 lessons with my newest teacher has drastically changed my playing. I even mentioned last night that just being in the presence of a good fiddler helps. I can watch all the videos in the world but when you're together, it changes the whole thing!
Good luck! A cool thing I do, speaking of videos, both teachers let me record a video of whatever it was so I can take it and reference it.

Hey NC Notes, it will be Dry and Dusty.
I want to be able to learn at my tempo ofcourse, I also have my responsibilities in life and it cannot be just dog and fiddle all of the time (although that sounds very pleasant). But maybe after three years classes will feel different than when I just started . I guess I'll be more rellaxed now.

I so hope this will become true for me as well , that it will change the whole thing! I have no clue if I am allowed to record, just an audio record would already be great and that one is an easy app on my phone ;-)
