What are your favorite fiddle tunes in G? I am trying to expand my repertoire with some more songs and G and D are some very common keys that I don’t know as many fiddle tunes in.

Here are a couple of my favorites:
Wheel Hoss
N.C. Breakdown

Are you tuned in GDAE? There are so many!

Shove That Pig's Foot a little Further in the Fire
Old Aunt Jenny with her Nightcap On
Broken Down Gambler

Miss McLeod's Reel

If you tune in GDGD, I'll shoot you some more.

Earworm - I hate to be a nitpicker, but since you mentioned the tuning GDAE, have you heard the recording of Marcus Martin playing the "Pigsfoot" tune? Its in concert Ab, but is usually described as crosstuned, and from the resonance of the fiddle that seems right to me (also there are two fiddles playing, IIRC also his son (?). Its interesting that for some tunes in this key family he apparently crosstuned, and not for others. I don't play this one, but I play his "Sugar in the Gourd," which I think is in GDAE. slippery-hill.com/content/sugar-gourd-0
