Grappling for the chances to record some music here and there...didn't get the time to think and get this like I wanted, but...at least I got to chase through it...lol. Fiddle in standard and banjo in Double C, capoed up to D. youtu.be/6Ms3_2Z7ODU?si=b-VapHyksBdBtH5G
Nice and soothing, Peggy. When I was young, my Mom would listen to a religious radio program while we got ready for church, and this was their theme song, so it really is "dear to my childhood."
I never knew this is a real place (although it wasn't when the song was written!) with an interesting history: littlebrownchurch.org/the-church/history/
That place is in Iowa! Used to live about 20 minutes from it. Been to one wedding there.
Thanks, Doug. Always educational to hear what you know about stuff...the song means a lot to me too...there was a little white church...but that wouldn't sound right...lol...but it was tiny and the only one around, and I love remembering the times and folks from long ago.
Chickenman, you've been there! Wow!
Peggy, you give me too much credit, and Google not eough. I was just trying to find out what the radio program was my Mom listened to, and this popped up. I had no idea. Interesting story.
