Thus fine instrument is the work of Daniel O. Smith, Virginia’s finest maker. It is his 70th violin. The wood in it came from the estate of an aspiring violin maker in Northern Virginia who bought excellent tonewood in the 1970s.
It has custom-made blood wood fittings with sterling silver on the tailpiece.
