Note that it says its for creating tablature for guitar and oher FRETTED instruments, although it's been adapted for violin and other instruments like tin whistle.
Although tablature has a long history for use with lute and guitar (although I think most music for classical and jazz guitar has been published in standard notation) most music for violin, including fiddle, has been written in standard notation. This is partly because the violin has no frets, but also because standard notation is much more versatile and can convey more information.
