Does anyone else here play bones...? I have made several sets over the years for musical friends..I even have a couple of sets done for pro players....no, not professional bone players but professional musicians... one set had travelled to China on a musical tour and another set went with a guy to play in the Irish bone competition some years ago... I have two sets in my fiddle case, I am learning to play both handed. One set is made from a magical wood called Katalox, it rings beautifully and I just made another set out of Bloodwood..., a little sharper in tone...

I knew this guy. (Don DeCamp) Sad to say, he passed away. Little did I know how well traveled he was. I jammed with him at the Iowa State Fair. He also played, spoons, and plectrum banjer. Jazz tunes. Show tunes. Not easy stuff. He was amazing!
Yes, an acquaintance plays bones.. He carries them in very professional looking case.. and he is fun to be around....for a while.
On another note.. Years ago I knew a man who invested in stock 'futures'.. very speculative.. When he spoke about what he did he always lost me in a minute, but he was sure I understood every word...So, at the time I owned a Meat Market.. yep.. soze I gathered a bunch of pork rib bones, cooked and dried them ...and gave them to the guy as a birthday present.. He asked why...I said, your investments are very speculative soze all you gotta do in Throw the Bones down and Intuit their meaning in reference to buying futures..
