Here's an old banjo tune called Needle Case. It might be a fiddle tune though, or both...who knows. Here we go with Needle Case in double C...fiddle tuned down one step from standard ... it's the groundhog way.
Hope everybody has a great day.

Awesome job on one of my favorite tunes! Love that easy groundhog pace, looking forward to the next one already Peggy!

Thanks, Loy. It sure is a great tune. I used to play Needle Case sometimes on my banjo...sorta left it behind, then thought of it the other day. But somehow, over the years, I've lost contact with that tune...it just doesn't seem to do much for me...so...wrangling about if I should delete the first one, or this one here, forget the whole doggone thing, try another time or what. Lol...oh the problems a banjo player faces...but anyhow, here's another version I'd made for our fiddling pal RichJ here to practice with...deleted it from my machine so it's got a countdown on it to start with. By the way, we've got a lot going on here and my time for forums might be pretty scarce...so...anyone interested, please stop by my youtube channel now and then and see what the ol' groundhog is up to, if anything. Here's the banjo in C Needle Case for now...we'll see what happens later. youtu.be/qqUnGYCnELg

Eric, this tune comes from Sam McGee from sunny Tennessee, although its not clear if he composed it. Here he is playing it from a later album recorded by Mike Seeger: youtu.be/coGh3XQ2kG8
Although the McGee brothers played regularly with Arthur Smith on the Opry, on his records he was accompanied by the Delmore Brothers - a completely different sound. I think this recording by Mike was the first time they'd ever appeared together on record.
