I was getting out my fiddle to play a few jigs and maybe some heartfelt slow airs, when I realized it was time to get ready for the big parade - I've got some figures to work on. Here's our leader: youtu.be/xCzhpd2G2V4
Wow, those Irish gals are HOT! (So I married one)
We always observe today as an excuse for revelry. Home-grown, home-corned brisket, cabbage (fried, though), soda bread, boiled taters. Green beer--fortified.
We watch "Braveheart," which is more about Scotland, but we don't have any Irish movies to watch. At least it's Gaelic.
I blew off the regimen I stated in the practice thread and sight-read a bunch of Celtic tunes for a couple hours. Fun!
"Wow, those Irish girls are HOT!" Haha., When I said I had some figures to work on, I wasn't just thinking about the marching! I'm not absolutely sure those dancers are actually Irish, though. Willing suspension of disbelief I suppose.
Speaking of which, regarding movies about Ireland, have you ever seen "The Quiet Man?" Its pretty good, and probably is available for viewing somehow.

I have not seen TQM, but anything with John Wayne is worth pursuing.
I also would like to see 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley', which plots the Irish Independence war in the 20s. I believe the title is a fiddle tune, also.
I don't come from 1840s Irish influx--I'm just another Scots-Irish Ulster mutt that traces back to Appalachian down-latitude drifting; but I like historic stuff.
Sorry I couldn't figure this out yesterday, but this morning I discovered my Fiddle Hangout post from last year (I'm no longer on Facebook but this video is still there).
