Was told to check the Gliga line out as far as quality for around $1000.00 to pick up my long awaited new obsession. :) What do you all think about Gliga for the $$ and quality?

Gliga makes decent instruments. They have good wood and use an arching shape that tends to give a lot of warmth and a bassier sound that’s popular with fiddlers. The varnish Gliga uses is the downfall, though, as it’s a thick sprayed-on varnish that kills a lot of tone. Also, they tend to leave the necks very bulky. It’s much better to get a Gliga that’s been varnished by someone else and reworked.

Gliga's instrument are a good start in any fiddling journey. I owned a workshop model and it was a competent rendition. I do not know about the more expensive models labeled Maestro. They may be excellent, or not. When I purchased mine they then had a good return policy.

Great info..thank you so  much.  I really want something that will be Bravissimo out of the box/store etc for the price of 1k or so.  Any suggestions on manufacturers?  Places to look with decent return policy like Shar ?

True I have heard the GEM line is fair.  I am looking over the GAMA products.

NFI. If you’d up your budget just a little you could contact Royce Burt and buy an excellent fiddle that you’d keep forever. He gives a 7 day trial period and is super easy to work with. Search him here in Fiddle Hangout.  And on YouTube. Everyone including myself have been satisfied customers
