I posted a progress clip a couple months back so here is my fiddle attempt at 8 months...I recently tried cross tuning in G. I love the way it sounds. To me it has a haunting ancient tone to it. Anyway, I thought i would give it a go and try improvise a bit. Disclaimer: I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing.

This is great and at 8 months you should be super proud! I've yet to try cross tuning but it sounds fun.

Great job bluesguy63. Now that you broke the ice there's a dozen more to try. You might even see how your fiddle sounds tuned to A=414 instead of 440, mine sound more mellow, maybe even kinda' growly. I find playing old familiar tunes in cross gives em a whole new feeling.

Thanks, now to find melody notes and play songs.

One of the beauties of cross-tuning is that, once your left hand is comfortable hitting the common first position notes, you almost can't miss eking a tune out of your fiddle. Just shuffle away unto infinity with the bow.
