A little too late, but better late than never.
After months of trying to find a shoulder rest that works for me I finally settled on the Wolf forte primo. I added a shoulder hook made out of coat hanger wire and a can lid. Near perfect, but the shoulder rest feet had a tendency to slip around or completely off at unfortunate times. I replaced the feet with Everest feet and they held much better. I had my hook held in place with a cable tie until I set it up properly and prettied it all up. Never got around to reemoving the cable tie. Well it slipped off again and the fiddle came down on the cable tie and got a couple dings in the back which irritated me greatly. Not an expensive fiddle, but less than a year old. I got rid of the cable tie and put a little masking tape on the fiddle under where the shoulder rest feet go. The rest now stays in place like it was built on, and the tape doesn't harm the finish. Yay!
I would also be concerned about that tape - think of the residue that's stuck to the wall after a poster with masking tape comes off. It doesn't age well. I'm glad you have something you're happy with, but it seems like a minor amount of shoulder rest shopping might save you some trouble.

I've tried Kun, Everest, Bon Musica, and something else I can't recall. I've spent hours messing with them, swapping parts around, adding foam padding, etc. I got the Wolf Primo by mistake, I meant to get the the Wolf Segundo, but I tried it and it just worked, especially with the goofy little shoulder hook I added and the Everest feet. The falling off incident occurred as a result of less than smooth shifting from 3rd position to first. I'll probably dispense with the tape when my technique improves. In the meantime I'll just be sure to replace the tape regularly.
