I was going to post a different one anyway, but Tony's post about Christmas wishes made me think of this song. I was in a store the other day and heard the Chuck Berry original, and it just didn't sound right without these two upoer midwest rock 'n' roll queens: youtu.be/jQ9ZA2-APwM

I do enjoy those young ladies, always great song choices and not a bad video put out there but them.

Here's the second installment of my little musical Advent calendar, in honor of the reconquest of the Iberian peninsula by the Moors (at least on the World Cup "football pitch"). youtu.be/U7I-mIXKpS0
Toni reveals her unsuspected Andalusian origins!
Also a nice holiday message from "Santa del Cid."

What Billy said!
They have a new subscriber!
They don't just bend towards Martin boxes. That's refreshing.
I like Martins but I've since realized, every box has it's voice.
It's a bit more subtle than a fiddle, but I'm learning.

Y'know, their doghouse player choice. Everyone is pretty good too.

Reina and Toni have played various guitars in their videos I've seen. In the earlier ones Reina played a D size mahogany Guild and Toni played a mid size Taylor cutaway, which I thought suited her playing well. I think she sold that guitar on ebay for a good price, and switched to a D-28. She also plays electric guitar, both Tele and Strat styles, as well as mandolin and acoustic and electric bass. I think I saw her take a harmonica break in one YouTube.
Here's the first video I found of them: youtu.be/In7MChGC2Wo Pretty simple - two young women playing around the fire in their backyard, but I still love the feeling and the atmosphere.
And here's one with Toni playing electric: youtu.be/LohPrTk98mY
I don't know who her guitar heroes are, but I don't think its Eric Clapton or Carlos Santana. I knew the person who wrote that song, and the circumstance that inspired it, and I think this is a very nice cover.
I think their videos are a lot more fun than most "old time" Youtubes, and I appreciate the absence of the Seattle - Brooklyn "grunge" style.

Doug, you'd probably know this: is a Fender Jazzman pickup, similar to the Gibson/Epiphone P90 pickup?

This is a little out of my area of expertise, so I'll refer you to this Wikipedia article about the Jazzmaster that compares the pickups: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Jazzmaster As you know they're never wrong.
Also, I have a G&L ASAT guitar, like this one, with the similar wide, flat "MFD" pickups that was Leo Fender's last design:
glguitars.com/product/asat-cla...-special/
Mine has a swamp ash body with translucent white finish - a really beautiful guitar. I'm not sure it can produce quite the piercing "twang" of the Tele bridge pickup, but it has a wider range of tones and lots of power. It was my first electric guitar, and I should have just stopped there!

BTW Steve, I don't know what Toni is playing in that video. It has the wide pickups but not the distinctive switch/control arrangement of the Jazzmaster or Jaguar. I really don't know much about electric guitars - I barely know the history of the ones I own.
I forgot to mention that Reina has switched to the smaller mahogany Martin with a magnetic soundhole pickup that she's playing in that video. Usually sounds great.
Good to see them in the bicycle/mirror storage room of their palatial LA mansion!
