Just read that Pete died unexpectedly on November 30 th.. I'm sure we'll be reading more about this in the morning.
Very sad indeed, but his passing wasn’t unexpected; he had a recurrence of cancer that he’d been fighting for many years, and he’s been in hospice for some weeks at the home of friends in Vermont. He was an old friend, and a huge influence on me musically over the years. In addition to his wonderful fiddling, he was a terrific songwriter and composer as well as a masterful musician on many instruments. But most of all, he was one of the finest human beings I’ve ever known, kind, generous, humble, and very supportive and encouraging to younger musicians at every level. He will be sorely missed by all whose lives and hearts he touched.

Got to hang out with him (and his wife) for a couple weeks.... really nice guy, besides being good musician/composer was advocate for community music.
I got a sort of notice that something was up a couple of months ago. I contacted him about doing a gig and his answer was unusually vague. The next thing I heard was that he was in hospice care. He will be missed.

Just read that Pete had an assisted death and that prostate cancer was the problem.. So, guys, get your prostate checked!! If you need a biopsy...it is painless and easy..and could save your life..
