Every year I like to make something myself as gifts for various people. This year I'm going to make Jerky.. Not a new project for me because I've made it many times over the years..However my Ex-wife (one of two)..just posted on Facebook that Walmart is selling Beyond Meat Jerky.. OK.. that sounds like Teriyaki flavored dog food to me. Do you think I could compete with that product by making jerky out of a Veggie Hot Dog?laughcheeky
Anyway...
Do you have any Jerky stories to tell? Favorite flavors? Types of meat you have used?

A dear friend of mine used to make venison jerky, he was an avid hunter and so it made sense.... it was quite good... I might question raccoon, squirrel, or groundhog..

Hey, watch out for that groundhog jerky...lol. Venison jerky is good but I've never made it or any jerky.

Lee, when I was vegan for 12 years, and thus my hubby was too since I'm the cook around here, we used to buy some type of vegan jerky, and yeah...when one is vegan their tastebuds develop enough imagination to actually appreciate that kinda stuff...especially with me...I really hate having to participate in the food chain to where it takes eating animals to make us healthy. But after the 12 years of veganism, I left it because it seemed to be ruining my health...from which I've not yet fully recuperated...but yeah...being a participant in the food chain again now, eating REAL jerky...I don't know how I ever stomached the fake stuff...fake bacon, fake jerky....when I was vegan I still craved those things but was happy to find substitutes, but as I said, you did have to develop an imagination for enjoying those. I have no experience making jerky, but I can tell you any real jerky I've had has been so yummy, I'm sure you'll come up with a good one...just stay away from them groundhogs...lol.

I've tried to make vegan bacon.. Absolute failure.. No way it tastes like bacon.
I've tried various types of vegan sausage..Absolute failures..(ok, Morning Star is pretty good).
So, my jerky will be Some sort of meat!!

You made us hungry and then fiddled the night away? Lol...sounds just like a fiddler. I set the chicken on the stove and then play enough fiddle to burn it all the time, myself...lol.
