Wife at dog training, thought i would record a tune.
Mic: ATM31 (About 4ft away)
PreAmp: Behringer with Flat eq, Straight into the line in on the computer.
Software:Reaper, Rendered to Mono mp3.......
Well that pre amp just recorded it's last tune. It just started popping and crackling and gave up the ghost with a final squeeeeek....A bit like me.....

Wow this is amazing! So good, Pete!
Really enjoyed listening to your fiddling.
What other Irish tunes are you working on?
Most recently for me, it's been a run of jigs: Devanney's Goat, Geese in the Bog, The Castle.
Reels I have on my list: Morning Dew, Pigeon on the Gate

You're my hero! Thanks for posting
Very nice playing! I’m working on two Irish tunes, one called “King of the Fairies” and the second called “Crossing to Ireland”. They are somewhat similar but different. They sound good played a bit slower, minor key I suppose is the reason.
And I sent my wife to dog training and asked her to take along the puppy for company. it didn’t take. She still barks at me daily to put down the fiddle and get some stuff done on the to-do list.

just ran through "King Of The Fairies", it's a deceptively complicated tune. i'm playing it a bit hornpipey in Em, and it seems to alter modes quite a bit to my ear...Nice.
Pete.
If you are going to learn “King of the fairies” I highly recommend setting 8 from the tune book on the thesession.org. It is two sharps and the tune starts on the B note on the G string. That’s the best setting there in my opinion since the required lilt/cadence is already given very well by the use of dotted notes. No guessing required.
It is deceptively complicated but also gets in your head, a maddening ear worm type of tune.
Pete. Wow! That was playing was terrific! Is it a keeper tune for you or a “meh” that was nice and move on?
I could only hope to get it sounding that well. I’m sufficiently aware about my abilities that I won’t dare post a tune.
I’d like to hear what you can do with crossing to Ireland.

Here's the rendition of King of the Fairies that for me is the gold standard - how much because Jarvis's playing introduced me to the tune, I don't know - it's the first tune here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csH9pALtsQE
