Stacy had a cd of all the tunes in the yellow book. Is there a cd of the tunes in his Western swing book?

Yeah but it’s not fiddle. The licks are played on a keyboard best I recall. R/

I had a friend who knew Stacy, who said that Stacy had a great ear, played a so-so fiddle, but was a fabulous dobro player.  I have no first-hand knowledge other than an email or two he sent.  There were some tunes that he had done some corrections to in the Phillips Collection Vol 1, and he sent those to me, since he had seen some postings on the fiddle-l about the collection, he knew I had the books.  He did say that I could pass them onto anyone I knew who had the collection, if I can find them.

The collections he made are quite good, though I think that they might have been split up into smaller volumes, with increased cost.

I met Stacy a couple of times... took a class with him at Fiddle hell... way early onI had the opportunity to hear him play the Dobro..yes, he was quite good... his fiddle playing was good but he had the ability to hear a tune and transcribe it almost immediately from memory... also he had an infinite knowledge of fiddle music in general... I got from him the notation for Fidoodlin a Spade Cooley tune that he never put in any of his books.... Quite a character...

I dug out a book of Stacy’s, Country Fiddle, and it has a lot of good stuff. Makes me feel dumb.
