I learned this tune when I belonged to a local fiddle club here in northeastern CT. A few folks in the club played French Canadian fiddle tunes which makes me think it might have Canadian origin. Have not been able to find anything about it on the web. Love to know if anyone on FHO has heard it before or might have any info. Well, guess I should add unless I messed it up so bad you can't make out the melody. lol

Yes, I do... Claudette was written by a fellow named Clement Cyr... he has one record out called 'The Man With The Blue Fiddle'...a friend of mine who collects Canadian fiddle music has the record and we both learned Claudette many years ago.. a really nice waltz...

Hey Swing - many thanks for that info. I see you're from ME so your also likely influenced by those Canadian fiddlers. Rather strange the Claudette Waltz isn't more popular since there are so many other well known fiddle tunes of Canadian origin

There are lots of fiddlers in Maine that play Canadian tunes, but also many have passed away and the influence is lessening...If you would like PM me and i will give you my friends contact information and you can get more on C Cyr and many others.... if you can, I strongly suggest Maine fiddle camp in the summer, also look up Frank Ferrel who has a wealth of tunes and information. Also, I have several sites that I can link you to much more...

Nice fiddling. Nice tune. I've never heard it before but I agree sure has a Canadian sound to it. Good job and the balance of the strum machine and fiddle are coming out very nice. Is it my horrible internet service we have here or was the video sort of not in sync with the audio? If it was out of whack...I don't know why that happens...it has happened to me before while recording...don't know why, but as I said before we have such lousy internet here it could be that...some things I try to watch I just have to give up on out of frustration...lol...but anyway, either way...it sounded fantastic. Wonderful fiddling and a nice tune.
