There isn't a really a big event scheduled - but an event motivated a friend to plan a trip to Mt View this weekend.
Stringband Music & Arts Festival
OCTOBER 14 & 15, 2022
We 're making plans to be there - more for the purpose of meeting and playing some OT tunes with folks. If nothing else - our friends will be there.
...but I wanted to ask - Is anyone else from FHO going to be there this weekend. I'd love to meet up with forum friends and share tunes.

I hope you enjoy Mtn View. There's a good catfish place there on the White river, can't remember the name. Probably not as good as what you'd have in MS.
Sounds like Jo Jo's Catfish Wharf at Jack's White River Fishing Resort. We've eaten at JoJo's before - good food. The deck overlooking the river is nice and relaxing. We have reservations at Jack's for Friday and Saturday nights.
We are on a mission that should bring us back to Mt View. Things go like I hope - it may become semi-regular - for a while anyway. I'll let you know. We can catch up one way or the other -eventually. I'll PM when we plan something else.

Originally posted by farmerjonesI sat beside a guy tonight, that will be there. His name is Walt. Harmonica is his mane, mandolin is his second ax. Fiddle tunes on Harmonica. You'll know it, when you hear him. I warned him about Mtn. View. Second visit, you'll bring furniture.
If you can - tell him to send me a message and contact information.
Mt View is a great place. I have been a lot of times, but enough to always look for an excuse to go again.

My Goodness. The weekend was everything I had hoped for. I met several really good - accomplished - OT musicians - played sessions both Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday night was a providential accident (is there a such thing?) I want to say that I have a lot of new friends now. I am so grateful for the acceptance and inclusion I received. I've been several places and played with other folks - but this place was amazing. I can't say enough.
The "mission" was very successful - we will be going back! ...as often as we can!
Glad you had a great time! I have several good friends there who are fantastic OT musicians! I am amazed at the plethora of kids coming up in the OT tradition!
I am planning to be in MtnView on the 3rd weekend of April for the spring festival. Except for the Covid haitus in 2019-2020, I've been every year since 1977. The Wildflower B&B will become OT Central.
You can bet I will be there that weekend my friend. Nothing would please me more than to play tunes with "Fiddler".
I first heard of the Folk Festival in Mt View back in the 60's. I should have gone. Wanted to, but never found anyone else who was interested. My loss.
