Just wanted to pass along a good experience.

This morning I drove to Winnboro, SC to have a set of PegHeds geared tuning pegs put on my violin by Chuck Herin. Chuck basically made them custom for my fiddle while I waited. He even grafted the knobs from my old set of ebony pegs onto the new set at no extra cost. Enjoyed talking with Chuck about the pegs and how he came up with the idea.

Very happy with them, they work great, I can tune all the strings easily and smoothly without using fine tuners. I wouldn't imagine anyone could tell them from traditional pegs without holding the violin.

I should have had a set put on a long time ago. Would highly recommend them if you're thinking about it.

I've got Wittner geared tuners on my fiddle and I love them. Easy to use for cross tuning and you don't open your case to a seasonal surprise, or weekly given our weather lately, when the friction pegs might let go.

Hey Bob - I had a fiddle with Wittners sit in a case for months without be played. Took it out and it did not even need retuning. The Wittners allow for fine tuning and stay in tune.
