I was inspired by the "vintage" video and Groundhogpeggy's backing track, so i made a weird 1930s version of the tune for fun today too!

Attached is my solo version from back then. It's a barn burner, whereas the one with banjo is more dance tempo. I also noticed that I posted the banjo one at minutes past midnight, literally as early as possible angel

Ha ha, yes, definitely a barn burner! You get such good rhythm in your bowing. And I like the ending...

Nickmc, sounds good! I like the creative cricket noises!

It's been so fun hearing this tune done every which way.... :-)

Thank you! Rhythm is king, as they say. If you go to the details page you will see that the ending was sort of a lark and I just didn't want to record it again laugh

I'd suggest this version by Walt and Clare as a better model. If its too fast you can always slow it down. youtu.be/-bepDi1-fgM
There is also a good version on YouTube by Benton Flippen and an elegant one by Kenny Baker.

The B-part strongly sounds like Marmaduke's HP.

Those tunes pretty much are a version of each other (Cricket and Marmaduke's)

Ha ha, your dog barking sounds like the equivalent of my daughter and her potato-chip snacking!

Hopefully he was barking harmoniously in the key of D. :-)

Thanks Peggy, i just found out why it sounds so weird. My on-board sound card has "noise reduction" enabled, which makes it sound more like a Cricket In The Bath, rather than on the hearth, LoL.

Were you able to disable the "noise reduction" setting?  How? and are you on Windows?  I have a friend who might benefit from this.  Thank you.

Yes i went to....

Control Panel/Hardware and sound/Realtek HD Audio Manager/Microphone. Then there are a few options available in the microphone effects tab including "Noise Reduction" that you can check or uncheck

I am on a Windows 10 64 bit computer with an ASUS motherboard using on board sound....Hope this helps.

Pete, so cool, really enjoyed that, it's great!

Well, here I am playing with Peggy's backing track, which I love! Thank you Peggy.

My cricket noises are SO bad, I do think I succeeded at sounding like a Donkey, HEE-HAW.
( So I threw in some artificial cricket noises, with cricket getting more and more disobedient as tune goes on...)

Hey ya'll...I talked to my fiddle instructor and asked about sheet music for Cricket on the Hearth. She hadn't heard of it and was interested in learning it herself! Is there anyone who has the sheet music?

Thank you!

Pamela :)

Hey Pete, ya fixed my bad cricket gaps! Thanks!
It sounds good and fun!
We sound good fast too. ( Of course I'd have to practice A LOT to get it going clean at that speed...)

Well Peggy & Pete, it's been great "jamming with you", thanks to our space-age technology...
