What the bleep is going on with these new ads (maybe mobile only) that pop up and take over the screen? There's a chewing tobacco ad that lines the sides of the screen with stuff and a recent Walking Dead one that takes over and I can't do anything until I close it (which takes two different taps).

How much does it cost to go ad free?

I haven't experienced that on the computer. You say it's on your phone?

I suppose you'll have to go researching a new ad-blocker. I'd bet it's the same outfit that sends the ads, tho

Only sure-fire is the "off" position

I haven't had it on my chromebook...might be mobile thing. Sounds like a pain to deal with.

It makes it so I have to close an ad multiple times as I reply to a post. P. I. T. A! I'm going to spring for the membership if it will eliminate the ads, it's only $20 for the year, less than two 6 packs of fancy beer.

What browser and device are you using, Billy?

Chrome Android

The ads rise up slowly from the bottom of the screen, some also slide in on both sides of the screen (the Sk├Âll chewing tobacco in particular).

They are also on Banjo Hangout.

OK. I used to use Firefox on my Android tablet (which BTW I bought partly because you told me that "people did things with them", which turned out to be correct!). In an update they completely redesigned a perfectly good app, so I switched to Chrome, which I liked. About a month or so ago it wouldn't connect to this site because it didn't trust the security certificate and the Google ads were really slowing things down on Firefox.
So I switched to Duckduckgo, and so far so good. It seems to have a few quirks, but its very compact, and when you go to a site it rates its security and shows what trackers its blocking. Some sites, like Allmusic don't like this effort to block monetization of my visit, but I'll bet it will solve your problem here.

No such thing on my Samsung tablet. Using Samsung browser.
One more thumbs-up for duck-duck-go!
