Well with all the technical issues I keep having trying to record anymore...something just isn't right with my setup...since the last computer crash and studio one 2...I can't hear the tracks...etc. This one was so frustrating it really wore me out trying to do it...it's gotten to where it's just no fun, just a lot of aggravation and goes into taking up too much time. It used to be fun and easy to record on the Presonus, but for several months now it's been really difficult to get everything working right...anyhow...I did this one yesterday and still feeling the anguish I went through...lol.
Even with the anguish, it sounds great...my fiddle book says that this tune is associated with Arkansas and Missouri Ozarks. They play it here a lot. Where else is it dry and dusty every summer? Along with a high number of folks who need a dram?
I can do a lot with a computer, but I'm sorry that I can't offer any tips on your machine; recording goes way over my head. Like all things digital, maybe it'll straighten out if you restart it enough.
I'll add: that fiddle really rings in GCGC. Most I've heard play it in D (some with DDAD tuning) but I can understand that a capo on a double-C banjer kind of takes the ring out of it.

Thanks, Scott. I think I need a technical overhaul...lol. If I win a million dollars I'll replace the entire setup...lol.
Love the "Old Time" sound you get!
Good playing Peggy, as always. I can sympathize with your recording problems. I bought an Onyx producer interface a couple of weeks ago and haven’t any luck with getting the thing to work right. Just can’t get a good signal out of it. I’ve tried everything I can think of. I was just trying to raise my recordings up a notch; I didn’t know it was going to cause a nervous breakdown. I think this is why God invented coffee. Also, one other problem that I am having with recording right now is that I don’t want to turn the air conditioner off long enough to record.
Thanks, Chris! Randy, I hear ya...it can be so much fun to record, but yeah, all the problems...ugh...coffee is the only thing to pull us through! Good luck getting yours to work out for you!
Nice! I like that you didn't play it super fast.
Thanks, Diane. I never play anything fast...lol...I like 'em super slow.
Been up in the Colorado mountains for the last ten days so just heard this this morning, great job Peggy! Hope you get your recording problems figured out.
Now that was a nicely-played and relaxed rendition! Makes me want to play the tune slower than I usually do. I liked the tasteful phrasing variations.
