Hi I've started learning the violin this year. After my practice I'm working on improvising to songs I hear on the radio.

I have picked Mechanical Bull by Stella Donnelly. It's very sparse but its slow and I thought it's something I could manage.

Does anyone have an idea about what I could do with this song?

It's in Eb with droning of E flat and D notes, improvise them on the D string while adding open G or Ab.

I don’t know that song but I think the best thing to do when you try to approach to a new song is to learn the melody first then try to improvvise using the melody notes and try to add some new notes that you feel ok for the song... that’s a suggestion just for the first approach hope it helps...
