I've read in a book by Tony Trishka that Tex Logan said "Wheel Hoss" may have been inspired by "Lady Hamilton". Are there any Bluegrass compositions that you think were based on certain Old-Time tunes?

Clinch Mountain Backstep  quickly comes to mind.

I'm sure lots of others.

Good question!! I'm sure there are tons. There's certainly no end of "well, we sing, but we want fiddle stuff in there too, maybe we'll throw in random tunes.

Following, you've got me curious.

I can't help but wonder if some of those original bluegrass compositions weren't inspired by copyright royalties?

Make some changes, and claim it as original composition (rather than arrangement).
